As bought. A large length of the binding and purfling was missing. Some of the side had become detached from the top.

I decided to replace the binding in small segments to make it easier to follow the body curve.

After gluing up a laminated block of alternating light and dark veneers I made this jig to make cutting the thin slices more accurate.
As a final touch I added a long pick guard. This hides most of the crack.

I decided not to go for the Gibson double pickguard as I thought the body too small to carry that amount of black.

I used a piece of sticky backed plastic.
These small slices were glued to the body rebate. They were then reduced to the same thickness as the original binding.

Here, the length by the file have been reduced and the length to the right of that have not yet been sanded down..
Here is a length of replacement binding.

The judicious use of a yellow paint helped add the sparkly element in the original.

Not perfect but I'll take it.
