This was an attempt to use an alternative neck fixing. Old Echo guitars had a no heel bolted fixing and I wanted to try this. It does simplify the neck both in making and mounting.
The neck was made in two parts, the main neck and the headstock. It was a sandwich of veneers and solid wood. The headstock a la Fluke was added,
The completed sandwich was then shaped and the heel part squared off.

It was then screwed and glued in to the body.
As I did not want to destroy the top image I decided to put the sound holes on the sides.

There are arcane formulae for working out how big to make the holes based on the body volume. In the end I decided to use the largest Forstner bit I has (1") and drill 4 holes.
Once again I cheated a bit and used a pre cut fret board. I did however, have to fit the frets,

The bridge was also a bought item,
Here you can see the "Echo" pattern heel and the Fluke type head stock. These are very cheap friction tuners, not too good.

In future I would use at least the cheaper Grover friction tuners.
