This ukulele was based on one of those soprano kits you see on Ebay. I intended to use the neck, fret board and bridge only.
This is another one with a thinned top, but this time using a tie bridge. so I fitted a bridge plte and rudimentary ladder bracing.
The kit used a loose dovetail key to mount the neck to the body.
Here I created the dovetail slot and added an extra neck block and support.
Neck and dovetail key fitted. The gaps were infilled with veneer shims.t
Disaster! A small tin of paint fell from the overhead cupboard. A unintended side effect of thinning the top.
"Bless me, an object from above, has descended with great force, upon my work piece below" is what I said
With some careful reconstruction and thin CA glue I managed to repair the break structurally, A veneer scratch plate covered the damage. I tried to echo the curve on the headstock.
All finished and a good recovery from disaster. A headstock veneer has been added.
I think the whole ukulele looks well
